During the complicated merger of two major teaching hospitals – one private and the other public – TBG developed a sophisticated strategy to secure both legislative and executive support. A segment of the REIT Industry and for-profit developers in Massachusetts were gravely concerned with legislation that would have significantly restricted Massachusetts "affordable" housing development. Working with a number of large REITs and other developers, a coalition was created that successfully fought back major changes to Massachusetts "anti-snob" zoning statutes that would have limited multi-unit residential real estate development.
